Abstract
We have studied the nuclear modulation effect in electron spin echoes for complexes of Nd3+ and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in frozen solution. Our aim was to find out whether this effect might be used to investigate metal–ion ATP complexes in biological systems. Experimental results have been compared with computer simulations based on NMR data for the Nd3+:ATP complex. The data has also been subjected to Fourier analysis. From the Fourier transforms it was found that the Nd3+:ATP complex tended to incorporate Na+ ions which were present in the starting material from which the samples were prepared, thus forming a coordination compound containing two different metal ions. Keywords
