Abstract
Rectangular unimorphs for displacement control have been fabricated using PMN-based electrostrictive ceramics instead of conventional piezoelectric ceramics. Bending response of the unimorph has been investigated under DC or AC applied voltage. The response has also been checked under mechanical load. The unimorph with 0.45PMN- 0.36PT-0.19BZN, which is the best choice at this moment, reveals a large displacement at the free end up to 20 µm under an applied cyclic voltage of 400 V with little hysteresis. Keywords
