Abstract
Contrary to a suggestion by Hurd, the temperature dependence of the electronic transfer integral arising from atomic vibrations provides a relatively unimportant contribution to the overall temperature dependence of the jump rate of an electronic small polaron. This is because the r.m.s. displacements of atoms are typically very much smaller than the spatial extent of an electronic small polaron. Keywords
