Abstract
The fluorescence due to a purely electronic transition 2E to 4A2 of Cr3+ ions is investigated, as related to the thermal effect on peak position and linewidth in the temperature range 10-200 K. The observed characteristics of the line shift and width are analysed as the result of two-phonon Raman scattering processes, and related parameters including an effective Debye temperature are determined so as to agree with the experiments. Keywords
