Abstract
The dissociative recombination coefficient of N with has been measured as (5±2)× /sec. The ions were produced uniformly in space and time in a mixture of N, O, and by chemi-ionization processes. Ion densities were measured by a pulsed total-ion-collection method. Analysis of the growth of ionization with time and analysis of the dependence of the square of ion density on ion production rate give essentially identical values for the recombination coefficient.
