Abstract
Titanium dioxide is used to provide data for comparison of pulmonary effects in rats, after inhalation of this reportedly inert powder for months, with effects reported elsewhere using more reactive powder. Titanium dioxide is dispersed by an atomizing-type unit described herein. Experimental and control group records show little difference between the groups at representative stages with respect to lung pathology, body weights or wet lung weights, though the lung ash weight is greater in the exposed group. Spectrographic evidence of titanium retention with negative observations concerning resulting activity or specific lesion, demonstrate a non-pathological pulmonary response. Keywords
