Abstract
This paper discusses the possibilities of providing an early warning biological monitoring system for continuously assessing water and wastewater discharges. The present incorporation of computer technology has yielded an efficient and inexpensive system. By interfacing such technology to today's alarm and telephone communications systems, spills can be detected with enough time to prevent their ever reaching receiving systems. Keywords
