Abstract
Observations on 478 cases from the city and district of Marseille are reported. The greatly varying routes of sensitization are noted. Reaction to castor pollen and (plant) protein have to be distinguished. Reactivity with a mold Spondylocladium (sp.) was often noted. Many patients have reactivities to house dust and various molds. Specific desensitization against these is often helpful; that with castor pollen or protein extracts is not without danger. Non-specific reactivity to rhizin must also be considered in differential diagnosis. This agent may also be present in commercial extracts. A modified passive cutaneous allergic reaction in monkeys with these antigens is reported. It parallels the experience in man.
