Abstract
By omitting single amino acids from a purified diet of T. geleii E, the following amino acids were found essential for continued growth arginine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, serine, threonine, tryptophan, valine. The concns. of the various amino acids that support optimal growth were detd. By comparing several amino acid concn. mixtures, including those based on casein and gelatin analyses, it was found that a special mixture of concns. supported the best growth. While there were optimal ranges of conens., there were no definite sharp concn. maxima. Keywords
