Abstract
Cross sections for multiple ionisation of Ne, Ar, Kr and I atoms by 420 MeV u-1 Un+ (n approximately=91) ions have been measured. Recoil ion charge states up to q approximately=0.5ZT could be identified, where ZT is the target atomic number. All measured data agree quite well with recent calculations performed within a semiclassical (h(cross)=0) quantum statistical independent-electron model. Keywords
