Abstract
The rms scattering angles introduced into beams of 10- to 70-MeV ions and 10- to 110-MeV ions by passage through thin foils of carbon, beryllium oxide, and aluminum oxide have been measured. The foils used ranged in thickness from 5 to 50 μg/. Qualitative agreement with the predictions of multiple Coulomb scattering theory is found, but an over-all normalization factor of 1.8 was needed in most cases to obtain quantitative agreement with the data.
