Abstract
A high performance instrument for fully automatic horizontal lifting deposition of LB films was developed. By use of double gates and by devising deposition cycles, this instrument worked very skillfully to prepare LB films of good quality. Ethylstearate and octadecylacrylate were deposited as X-type LB films having the higher molecular order of structure. LB films of cadmium and lanthanum salts of arachidic acid deposited by the fully automatic horizontal lifting method gave extremely higher order X-ray diffraction corresponding to Y-type structure. These results reveal that this instrument is useful for preparing LB films of good quality, especially for materials forming rather rigid monolayers. Keywords
