Abstract
We describe experiments in the Bénard–von Kármán hydrodynamic instability of the vortex shedding behind an obstacle. We obtain the scaling laws for the evolution of the global mode describing the envelope of the peak to peak amplitude velocity oscillation of the flow velocity and we show the existence of a universal curve for the renormalized amplitude of the streamwise evolution of this amplitude. Keywords
