Abstract
The idealised single ridge waveguide is sub-divided in two distinct ways for purposes of exact H-mode theory. The field components are expressed as infinite Fourier series in terms of fundamental solutions of the wave equation, the boundary conditions applied and transcendental doubly infinite determinants for the cut-off wavelengths obtained. It is shown that 2×2 determinant approximations give tolerable accuracy and that usable simplified formulae for the field components are possible. Keywords
