A Survey of Trichinosis Among Black Bears in Vermont

Abstract
Following the 1964 and 1965 hunting seasons, diaphragm and loin or rump specimens from 35 black bears shot in Vermont were examined for evidence of trichinosis. Laboratory studies ineluded direct microscopy as well as digestion and concentration techniques. No larvae of Trichinella spiralis were found in this 11% sample of the annual bear kill.
