Abstract
Twelve cases of a disease of unknown etiology are presented showing extensive intracranial collaterals associated with total or partial occlusion of the circle of Willis. These cases include 8 juvenile and 4 adult cases; both groups were predominantly female. In the juvenile group, the symptomology is of milder onset but recurrent, whereas in the adult group, it is more severe at onset but nonrecurrent. In the adult, following recovery from the initial event, the course is uneventful with minimal residual symptoms. In the juvenile, remission and exacerbation with persisting sequelae are usually observed. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
