Abstract
The focusing effects due to fringing fields at both the entrance and the exit slits of the cylindrical mirror energy analyser are examined and a set of corrected design parameters is presented which takes account of the second order focusing in the cylindrical field. The resolution is rather poorer in this case compared with the 'classical' case; however transmission losses as well as secondary emission at the window grids are avoided. Keywords
