Abstract
The pressure dependence of the optical-phonon modes of metallic β-Sn has been studied up to 9.6 GPa by Raman spectroscopy. Both observed modes shift to higher frequencies under compression, this increase being more distinct for the higher-frequency mode. The experimental results are compared with available theoretical results. The mode Grüneisen parameters have been determined and compared to those of Ge in the β-tin phase. Keywords
