Abstract
SUMMARY: The lithostratigraphy of the Scarborough Formation is described and 3 new formal lithostratigraphic units are named (the Hundale Shale, Ravenscar Shale and White Nab ‘Ironstone’ Members). Six ammonite horizons occur in the upper part of the Formation and indicate that all 3 Subzones ( romani, humphriesianum and blagdeni ) of the Lower Bajocian humphriesianum Zone are represented. The ammonite and ostracod faunas show that although some of the lithostratigraphic units are very variable the Crinoid Grit, Ravenscar Shale and White Nab ‘Ironstone’ Members are isochronous. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
