Abstract
The excitations due to a parahydrogen molecule in the ordered state of solid orthohydrogen are studied. The anharmonic processes prove to give significant effects on J=2 rotons. The virtual creation of libron (J=1 excitation) in the vicinity of roton is taken into account with the interactions between roton and libron, where the relevant Green’s function is determined self-consistently. The results for Raman intensities are in good agreement with the experiment by Hardy, Silvera and McTague. It is shown that the local perturbation in the presence of a parahydrogen molecule gives appreciable effects on libron. The concentration dependence of the k=0 libron energy at very low concentrations of parahydrogen is also studied in fair agreement with the Raman experiment.
