Abstract
Imprinting is a process by which the paternal allele of a gene is silenced and gene expression occurs only from the maternal allele. Although much is known about imprinting during mammalian development, imprinting during plant development is less well understood. In a Perspective, Berger discusses new work ( Kinoshita et al.) that identifies the mechanism for imprinting of the FWA gene in the endosperm of the model plant Arabidopsis.Keywords
