Abstract
Guanethidine therapy in patients with essential hypertension decreases the mean arterial blood pressure and increases the total blood volume. When the drug was withdrawn the total blood volume, plasma volume and red blood cell volume fell by a mean of 9.9, 12.2, and 6.1%, respectively. In all patients the venous hematocrit and total body hematocrit increased, while the F-cells factor(Reeve, E. B., et al: Amer. Jour. Physiol. 1953 V. 175, p. 195) remained essentially unchanged. Keywords
