Abstract
Computerized substation siting and sizing methods utilize optimization to determine the best combination of substation sites and capacities for an expanding distribution system. An important part of the input data to such methods is the characteristics of the feeder system--its configuration, losses, and load capability. This paper describes a fast method of generating this information using dynamic programming, thereby simplifying the data requirements and setup for these programs. The method is described and the results of tests of its performance are given. Keywords
