Abstract
Dietary requirements for maximal growth in Sprague-Dawley male rats (in mg./kg. of food mixture) were detd. at various ages for the various B-vits. (thiamin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid, and choline). No changes in requirement were observed at ages from 1-24 months for any of the vits. except thiamin, but for thiamin the requirement for opt. growth or prevention-of acute deficiency had more than doubled by 24 months of age. This verified the author''s earlier finding and was considered justification for thiamin supplementation of old age diets.
