Measurements of Nuclear Radii by Heavy-Ion Scattering

Abstract
The elastic scattering of C12 and O16 on nuclei of Pb208, Pb206, Bi209, Nd144, Nd146, Nd148, Sm152, and Sm154 was studied in order to determine the strong-absorption radii and to see if these may be influenced by Coulomb distortion effects. It was found that these Coulomb effects were small and all radii could be described by a radius parameter R0 between 1.30 and 1.44 fm.
