Abstract
An analysis of elastic electron scattering from the nuclear charge and magnetization distributions is carried out with phase-shift analysis and distorted-wave Born approximation, respectively. We find that magnetic electron scattering should be measurable from medium and heavy odd- nuclei at normal scattering angles in addition to 180°. In particular, the scattering from the maximally allowed magnetic multipole distribution should be easily observed.
