Relationship of Renal Function to Blood Pressure During Ganglionic Blockade in the Anesthetized Dog

Abstract
Clearances of inulin and p-aminohippurate were measured at various blood pressure levels in 11 anesthetized dogs, blockaded with hexa-methonium bromide. Above 50-60 mm. Hg the clearances were minimally affected by changes in pressure. Below this level they decreased rapidly, the inulin clearance extrapolating to zero at 25-30 mm. Hg. At low pressures persistent gross changes in tubular extraction were not observed, and it is suggested that transport of p-aminohippurate may have continued after glomerular filtration stopped.
