Abstract
An outline and discussion of the concepts involved in understanding plant cell water relations appropriate for sixth-form pupils is given. This is followed by presentation of the results obtained from a brief study of the understanding shown of these concepts by pupils preparing for Advanced Level examinations in England. Particular comparison is made between pupils who have learned the topic using the old terminology compared with those adopting the new terms. Keywords
