Isolation of Desoxycorticosterone from Adrenal Venous Blood of the Dog; Effect of Hypophysectomy and ACTH.

Abstract
A biologically active compound, isolated from adrenal venous blood of the dog, is in all probability 11-desoxycorticosterone. Its concentration in adrenal venous blood was shown to be markedly increased over that in arterial blood, indicating that it is secreted by the adrenal. Rate of secretion of the isolated substance was found to decrease following acute hypophysectomy and to increase following intravenous ACTH.
