Abstract
Because superconducting machines lack well defined magnetic circuits and air gaps, some per-unit normalization methods used for conventional machines are not satisfactory. This paper presents six possible ways of normalizing the impedances of air-core machines, illustrating the processes with data from an experimental air core machine. It is found that a commonly used per-unit system may be used with certain modifications. Keywords
