Abstract
In addition to reviewing the metabolic and genetic abnormalities described for the schizophrenias, abnormalities have also been described in the parental modes of thinking, feeling and relating. Premorbid adjustment is correlated with sensitivity to criticism and family dominance patterns. Prevalence of the illness is higher in the lower socioeconomic groups and areas of cultural isolation.
