COEXISTENT IDIOPATHIC HYPOPARATHYROIDISM AND PERNICIOUS ANEMIA IN A YOUNG GIRL: CASE REPORT

Abstract
A case is reported in which severe hypocalcemia with associated hyperphosphatemia was 1st discovered when the patient at the age of 7 had a tetanic convulsion followed by coma. At the age of 12 she developed a macrocytic anemia characterized by megaloblastic bone marrow and histamine-fast achlorhydria. Her clinical course between admissions has reflected the adequacy of therapy for conditions diagnosed at the age of 14 as idiopathic hypoparathyroidism with coexistent pernicious anemia.
