Abstract
The hitherto unknown hydroid of the anthomedusa Bougainvillia principis (Steenstrup), found in the Firth of Clyde, and the stages of the medusae reared from it are described and figured. The seasonal occurrence of the medusa is described. The hydroids and the medusae of the British species of Bougainvillia are reviewed and compared, and some doubtful species are identified with accepted ones.
