Diet and Coronary Heart Disease: Dietary Analysis on 100 Male Patients

Abstract
A preliminary report on the dietary findings of 100 men with CHD shows that they consumed an average of 3,555 kcal per day. This is similar to the experience of the general Irish population whose daily calorie intake is reported to be the highest in the world. No obvious abnormalities were noted in other measured dietary factors in these patients when compared to data derived from apparently healthy populations or subjects. It is considered that, while general overnutrition with the consequent pattern of a high saturated fat intake may increase the coronary proneness of a population, it is unlikely to be a highgrade risk factor in individuals. The serum cholesterol of the patients was correlated with their fat, carbohydrate, calorie, and cholesterol intakes.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
