Abstract
Miscellaneous ObservationsAt the time of writing, several initial observations have been made that are of great potential interest. Spock et al.,168 while studying the effect of serums of patients with cystic fibrosis on human and animal respiratory-tract epithelium in tissue culture, observed that such specimens resulted in an asymmetrical or "jerky" ciliary beats. They studied the ciliary activity by placing a tissue-culture expiant with a ciliary border on a glass slide and exposing the border to serum. An asymmetrical beat was usually observed within ten to fifteen minutes in all cases when serum specimens from 50 patients with cystic . . .Keywords
