Abstract
Homogenates of chorioallantoic membranes of chick embryos contain an enzyme system which oxidizes glucose-6-phosphate or fructose-6-phosphate in the presence of triphosphopyridine nucleotide. Pyocyanine serves as efficient carrier, if the reaction is carried out aerobically. The conditions of the test system are descr. in detail. The occurrence of this enzyme system in the chorioallantoic membrane is of interest with respect to studies on the metabolic effects of viruses, which can be propagated in this tissue. Keywords
