Abstract
The experimental technique of measuring cross sections for momentum transfer between ions and atoms by observing hydromagnetic waves is greatly simplified if standing rather than propagating waves are used. Measurements are reported of Ar+-Ar momentum transfer cross sections in the energy range 4-7 eV using standing magnetoacoustic waves. Keywords
