Photon-photon scattering contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron

Abstract

A careful and systematic recomputation of the photon-photon scattering contribution to the sixth-order electron magnetic-moment anomaly is made. The result is

a_{e}^{(6)} (γ γ) = (0.400 \pm 0.006) {(\frac{α}{π})}^{3}

leading to the theoretical value

a_{e}^{th} = (1159652.74 \pm 0.30) \times 10^{- 9}
