Alloxan Diabetes in the Golden Hamster, Mesocricetus Auratus: II. Glomerulosclerosis and Its Relation to Diabetes Regulation

Abstract
A diffuse glomerulosclerotic lesion occurs in the kidney of the alloxan-diabetic golden hamster. The lesion was distinguished from changes associated with aging and consisted of alterations in the basement membranes of glomerular capillaries comparable to some diffuse glomerulosclerotic lesions described in the kidneys of diabetic patients. With poor regulation of the diabetes the incidence of advanced glomerulosclerosis was significantly greater.
