Abstract
The chemical nature of the contents of cortical ampules of E. crassus during preconjugant interaction was investigated. Different fixation techniques, chemical treatments and stainings were used. These ampules contain a considerable amount of lipid associated with some protein. The presence of mucopolysaccharides was not evident. An analogy between these cortical organelles in Euplotes and mucocysts of other ciliates cannot be confirmed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
