Abstract
Seven cases clinically indistinguishable from the cases previously described as primary lateral sclerosis are reported. Cord diameter studies performed by gas myelography revealed spinal cord atrophy of unknown etiology in 6 cases, while a heredodegenerative disease could be assumed in one case. The atrophy usually limited to the cervico-thoracic segments of the spinal cord and the clinical course as well as the neurological examination showed principally nothing else than a marked paraspasticity and rigidity in every case. The findings are discussed.
