Abstract
It is shown by explicit calculations that the adiabatic treatment of certain deuteron breakup channels predicts differential cross sections for () and () reactions, involving 20-MeV deuterons and a wide range of targets, similar to results obtained with the distorted-wave method but with large suppression of the contributions from low partial waves. An improved fit to angular distributions is obtained in many cases.
