Abstract
Antisera to human growth hormone (Raben) were conjugated with fluorescein isothiocyanate and applied to frozen and formalin fixed sections of human pituitaries and pituitary adenomate, using the Coons technique. The fluorescence localized exclusively in some pituitary eosinophile cells and eosinophilic adenomata. Absence of similar localization in other tissues, and appropriate inhibition and absorbtion control studies indicate the specificity of the above localization. This constitutes direct evidence that human growth hormone is produced or stored in pituitary eosinophil cells. Keywords
