Abstract
The authors derive a closed expression for the dynamic alpha -transfer polarisation potential for heavy-ion elastic scattering. The back-angle angular distributions for the elastic scattering of 16O+28Si obtained by adding this polarisation potential to the E-18 interaction are shown to be in good agreement with the data if an alpha -transfer spectroscopic factor of 0.4 is used. Keywords
