Exotic States and Photoproduction from Deuterium

Abstract
Recent data on photoproduction from deuterium, which have been proposed as evidence for -channel exchange of exotic meson states, are examined. It is shown that the effects that were associated with exchange of exotic states can result from shadow effects in the deuteron.
