Abstract
A bacterium isolated from soil, and identified as Pseudomonas lemonnieri (Lasseur) Breed et al, is described. The organism produces a green fluorescent pigment which is apparently identical with the fluorescent pigment produced by some other species of the genus. It also produces under certain conditions a blue pigment which is not removed from the cell by conventional organic solvents, but which is soluble in dimethylformamide and other protein solvents. The absorption spectrum of this pigment in DMF gives maxima at 433 and 625 m[mu].Keywords
