Abstract
The equations developed by A. F. Stevenson on the light scattering by spheroids subjected to hydrodynamic orientation—a theory which takes into account the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupolescattering in addition to dipolar Rayleigh scattering—were generalized so as to include the effect of the scattering angles ϑ and ω as additional variables. The resulting exceptionally lengthy equations were evaluated with the objective of finding the best possible arguments for the determination, by means of the flowlight scattering technique, of both exact shape and size (molecular weight) of nonspherical bodies which can be approximated as spheroids. The analytical potential of the flowlight scattering technique is compared with that of the standard light scattering technique in resting systems and with that of flowbirefringence. Keywords
