Abstract
Lateral internal sphincterotomy proved effective in 99% of the 418 procedures in which it was performed. The complication rate (5%) was an improvement over most rates reported in the medical literature and over previous experience with posterior sphincterotomy and anoplasty. Anal wounds and fissures healed faster than with previous procedures. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
