Abstract
It is shown that the inclusive measurement of pions and other mesons in high-energy single-spin experiments is a useful way to study meson-production mechanisms in general, and to identify mesons due to direct formation (quark-antiquark fusion) in particular. Further evidence supporting the picture proposed recently is presented. Predictions for future experiments are made. Keywords
