Abstract
Measurements on the magnetic properties of the intermetallic compounds RCu 4 Pd (R=Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) with a cubic crystal structure are carried out in the temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K under magnetic fields up to 150 kOe. All the compounds are found to be ferromagnetic. Temperature variations of the susceptibilities follow the Curie-Weiss law in higher temperature. The paramagnetic Curie temperature for each compound is in good agreement with the Curie temperature. The effective magnetic moment per R ion coincides well with that derived from the free R 3+ ion. The results are discussed in terms of the RKKY theory. Keywords
